A born native of Dayton, Ohio, Jamie began his musical career in 1972 in a Drum and Baton corps.  Throughout school he played in marching bands, jazz bands, orchestras, and was playing
professionally at the age of 17 in a number of different rock bands.
He has
played all types of music from jazz to heavy metal and everything in between which adds richness and depth to his performance.

Jamie's early musical influence was of course the great Buddy Rich followed by Neil Pert (Rush) and Alex Van Halen.  He enjoys all types of music but his passion is rock.  Personal favorites depending on his mood are classic tunes such as Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Rush, Y&T, Boston, Queen, and Kansas.

Jamie moved to San Jose California in 1979 where he met his beautiful Wife Vickey (who he snatched up immediately) and started a family of four with two of the best kids on earth, Sean and Melanie.  Jamie picked up the family, pets, furniture and relocated to San Diego in 1998 where he ignited the Shady Grey project in 2002.

Off stage he enjoys playing on his boat, skiing, wakeboarding, knee boarding, and just kicking back with a fishing pole.  When he isn't busy jammin' or boating, Jamie is a 27 year Manufacturing and Quality Engineering veteran for a business computing company.  He is actively involved in Mission Hills church and spends time working on community projects or helping friends.

Interview with a Shady Drummer

Q: What was the best Shady Grey gig so far:
A:
It wouldn't be fair to put just one gig here, but the Pepe's & Kraken crowds are the most vocal and the liveliest.

Q: Which song do you like playing best:
A:
Actually I can't think of a song I don't like to play but I think Harder to Breath Rocks!

Q: What is your favorite food:
A:  I'm a steak and potatoes guy, but I also love any kind of seafood

Q:  What do you do for relaxation:
A:  Home improvement projects work great; they take my mind off of all the other stresses.

Q: What do you want to be doing when you're 65:
A:  Same thing I'm doing now; playing music and enjoying all the blessings in my life.
